At River City Christian we acknowledge that there is an undeniable biblical mandate to care for orphans. While we usually associate orphans with war-torn or impoverished countries, it is important to note that there are an estimated 4000 orphans in the greater Sacramento area. These are children of all ages that for a variety of reasons are without a permanent home and family. Chosen Ones is our foster/adoption ministry that addresses the needs of orphans in our own area and provides support to families considering or already involved in foster care and adoption.

Our monthly meetings are an informal gathering of families in various stages of the fostering or adopting process. A light lunch is served and families get to connect, ask questions, share information and ideas, and receive encouragement no matter where they are at in their inquiry or journey. We also offer our church families tangible ways throughout the year to bless orphans and to assist families and organizations caring for orphans.

The conference features guest speakers and is ideal for adoptive and foster parents, those considering adoption or foster care and those who are serving and supporting others, including social workers, agency professionals, church staff and ministry leaders, counselors, therapists and others.
