Our church’s purpose statement calls us to be a mission station. That’s a powerful reminder that we do not exist for ourselves but for the sake of others. River City Christian is committed to sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with every person everywhere. In this effort we are involved in Global Outreach on several levels.

River City Christian has partnered with Revival Glory School in Kamuli District, Uganda to create a child sponsorship program. Your donation of $30 each month helps to provide a child with a Christian education taught by loving teachers, school uniform, books and school supplies and daily meals.

River City Christian actively supports a number of Global Outreach Partners who serve Christ in various locations around the world as well as in local ministries. We encourage the work of each of these partners through financial contributions, prayer, pastoral care and relational connection with at least one of our Growth Groups.

Here is a partial list of our Global Outreach Partners:

  • Angela Kellogg- Law Enforcement Chaplaincy, Sacramento
  • Dave and Julee Schoch- Christar, Albania
  • David and Heather- unreached peoples in India
  • David and Mini Palmer- Servant Partners
  • Gary Fox- Youth for Christ, Sacramento
  • Gary and Marylou Sander- Evangelical Covenant Church, Colombia
  • Jim Howard-Jesus Film, Russia
  • Jim and Heather Meyers- Wycliffe Bible Translators, Indonesia

Something significant happens when we get out of our comfort zone and participate in what the Lord is doing in other cultures. While it is our hope and prayer that we will be a blessing to those we visit and serve, those who participate in short-term Global Outreach trips usually are overwhelmed with the blessings they receive from the experience. Our view of God and His kingdom is enlarged, our compassion for others grows, and our knowledge of the Lord’s grace in our own lives is deepened.

River City Christian regularly offers members opportunities to participate in short-term Global Outreach trips.

Each spring, high school students, college students and adults are invited to be a part of our Mexicali team which works with local ministries in providing children’s programs, activities for youth, prison visitation, men’s and women’s ministries and community service projects.

We periodically sponsor other trips to locations such as Guatemala, Colombia, Indonesia and India. We have men’s teams, women’s teams and family teams.

If you are interested in participating on a Global Outreach trip in the future please contact

At River City Christian we desire to serve our community in the name of Jesus. We partner with a number of local organizations in ministering to the needs of the poor and marginalized in our society. A few of our most significant local outreach opportunities are described below.

In cooperation with World Relief, a Christian resettlement agency, River City Christian regularly sponsors legal refugees coming into the United States. Most of the refugees come from countries like Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria and Iran and are seeking to escape the violence in their homeland.

As a body of believers we have an incredible opportunity to show the love of Jesus in tangible ways to these families. We set up their apartment prior to their arrival, greet them at the airport, provide transportation to initial appointments at government and school offices, accompany them on their first visit to an American grocery store, and seek to build lasting relationships.

Donations are regularly needed to furnish their new homes. Items may be new or used (but in good condition). Click here for a list of donation items. Donations, except furniture, may be brought to the church office. To schedule a possible furniture pick up please contact

River City Christian sponsors a seasonal program on Sunday afternoons to assist refugees with their transition into a new culture. Sessions generally run for about eight weeks followed by a break of a few weeks. Volunteers are needed in the following areas:

  • English practice partners
  • Tutors for elementary and middle school students
  • Resume writing and job search assistance
  • Children’s program
  • Craft preparation (no need to attend Sunday program)
  • Snack donations (no need to attend Sunday program)

If you are interested in helping with the next session of Bridges please contact

Once a month a group from River City Christian go to the Union Gospel Mission in Sacramento to serve meals to the homeless population. Another group also goes monthly to lead worship for the men seeking services there. If you are interested in visiting the Union Gospel Mission with members of River City Christian for either of these activities please contact Please note that both men and women are welcome to participate.

One of the highlights of our year at River City Christian is the Christmas Mall. Hundreds of people in need in our community are selected by local service organizations to attend the mall the first weekend of December. Several stores are set up in rooms on our church campus featuring new items that have been donated by church members. Each guest is given a voucher to purchase multiple items to give as gifts to family members. After guests have completed their shopping they may take advantage of our free gift wrapping service. Other activities during the Christmas Mall include a full holiday meal with live entertainment, a full service salon and spa (haircuts, styling, nail painting and chair massages), children’s Candyland (crafts, bounce houses, entertainment), youth café, prayer counseling (with free Bibles), and photo booth with Santa.
